Yard work and more!

Time to update!!
The last week or so has been very hectic around here! I got home from the airport and basically hit the books to study for that big test. All paid off and I managed a 99% on it! Which I’m very thankful for, I have one more test to do and then I’m in the clear until summer, but this is the last “nursing” class I need that the grade counts for. So the better I do the better chance I have getting into their program!
Graysen has been coughing for a couple weeks now, but last week it started to get really nasty! She had a horrible hacking cough, tons of drainage from the nose, and sneezing up the lore. We took her to the doctor and this lady is something else. First of all Graysen doesn’t like her. The sight of her makes Graysen scream and she’s not very well with Graysen. She basically said oh great now she’s screaming, she did this last week too (for her 18 month checkup), what is wrong with her? She said nothing was wrong with her; she had no clue why she had this horrible cough that is making her not sleep at night and vomit! She suggested allergies, and gave us some allergy medicine. As of right now Graysen will not take the medicine, they should really learn to make that stuff in better flavors, but she is getting better slowly. The cough has decreased a ton, still a little stuffy but not nearly as bad as it was! Although now I’m sick; this rules out allergies!  It’s the nasty little cold we’ve gotten the last times just worse. I’m hoping I can kick mine soon, it came at a good time where I’m not stressing with school but I hate being sick!
Since spring is in the air we are trying to get our “house” things taken care of. The first one is the flower bed out front. When we moved in the guy just had dirt next to the house with a bunch of wild/weed flowers growing. So before winter we went ahead and tore out the entire bed and bought to decorative bricks to lie in front. We didn’t do anything else since planting would be stupid and we were out of money for that type of stuff.  So last weekend we went ahead and got dirt filled into the bed and plants have been ordered on-line.  I’ve never done this “gardening” thing on my own before so I just hope the plants I picked don’t look ridiculous and goody, and I also hope they don’t die on me! I will post pictures of before and after when it’s done!
Our next step to getting the yard done is the back yard fence. When we moved in the fence that was up was the original and hasn’t been touched. Some wood and chicken wire back a “boundary” but no fence. Therefore we let Annabelle out on one of those super long lease-like cords. I hate it because you can’t leave her outside; you need to keep your eye on her because she gets herself tied up in places! Either way we are both ready for a nice fence back there! We had first decided on Vinyl. Not anything I know about because I’m not big on the fencing thing but Brandon was pretty positive that Vinyl was better than wood and would be the better investment.  I was fine with that. The only thing we could exactly agree on, was he wants a tall privacy type of fence and I do NOT! We don’t have anybody who lives directly behind us because of our little inlet/creek being there which leads to the bigger river down the way. And with all the trees, I LOVE sitting at the eat in table in the morning with a cup of coffee and just looking out, it’s peaceful. Put a fence in the way and it’s gone. Well at our first estimate, the guy was wonderful. Very nice and he actually was talking me towards wood. He said that it was stronger than vinyl, and wood he can customize, he can’t do that with vinyl. We still have two more estimates but this picture I what he suggested we do. So we still have the privacy type thing in the front and sides but he slopes the back down so we see out of the back. I like it! So I will be putting up before and after pics of that one too!

Well that’s about all of what’s going on in this house! Brandon’s surgery got moved back a week, so the 29th is when he will be going in for that. Otherwise just another day in the Saul household! Thanks for checking in!

  1. This one makes me cringe. I absolutely hate yard work, or anything outside really. The only reason I'm even willing to to ANYTHING outside is so my kids can get a chance to play outside or go to the park LOL I bet your yard will look awesome!!
